🔒 Angler-First Privacy Commitment

AnglerLog is engineered as a private, client-side personal fishing logbook. We firmly believe that secret fishing spots and hard-earned logs belong solely to the angler. By fundamental architectural design, your personal logs, GPS coordinates, and photos are never uploaded, shared, or collected on our servers. All information remains exclusively on your local device.

1. Local Device Storage
Spot coordinates, photos, tackle setups, and catches are saved directly in your browser's IndexedDB. They are never transmitted to external cloud servers.
2. Zero Location Tracking
GPS is used strictly in real-time on your device to center the map and align the fishing compass. We never track, store, or log your movement histories.
3. Full Data Ownership
You can export and backup your entire logbook as a clean JSON file at any time. There is no cloud lock-in or restriction on your data.

Section 1 (General Principles)

This Privacy Policy sets forth how STONE PLANNING ("Operator", "we", "us", or "our") handles user information in connection with the web application "AnglerLog" (the "Application" or "Service").

We respect your privacy and adhere to an offline-first, client-side data architecture to ensure that your fishing records and private locations are never unintentionally exposed.

Section 2 (Types of Data Stored and Storage Methodology)

The Application records and retains the following categories of information strictly within your local browser storage (IndexedDB and LocalStorage):

  • Fishing Spot Information: Spot names, categories, GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude), water depth, seabed structure, snag rating, current/tide notes, parking notes, hazard notes, and sub-spot coordinates.
  • Catch Logs: Catch date and time, target species, length, weight, quantity, weather, tide phase, water temperature, lures, tackle details, and notes.
  • Photos and Images: Photos attached to spots and catch records (compressed and preserved locally as binary blobs).
  • Tackle & Gear: Rods, reels, main lines, shock leaders, and favorite lure selections.

Notice: None of the above data is automatically collected, transmitted, sold, or shared with STONE PLANNING or any third-party cloud infrastructure.

Section 3 (Use of Location Data / GPS)

The Application may request permission from your browser or mobile device to access GPS location solely for the following interactive purposes:

  • Centering the map on your current real-time coordinates.
  • Creating a new fishing spot or sub-point at your present location with a single tap.
  • Aligning the digital fishing compass with real-time wind directions and bearing at your location.

GPS information is evaluated in real time within your local device memory and is never transmitted to our servers or used for behavioral profiling or analytics tracking.

Section 4 (External Third-Party Services and APIs)

To provide essential map and environmental information, the Application communicates with third-party service providers:

  • Map Tile Providers: We display map layers via OpenStreetMap and public geospatial services. When downloading tiles, only standard HTTP header requests are made; your custom spot pins and notes are never transmitted to map tile servers.
  • Weather & Marine Data Providers: Weather, wind, and marine forecasts are queried (e.g., Open-Meteo API) using coordinate queries. No personal identifiers or catch histories are attached to these API requests.
  • Tide Calculations: Harmonic tide calculations are computed client-side using astronomical algorithms.

Section 5 (Advertising and Analytics)

To maintain server hosting and ongoing development of the Application, non-intrusive advertisements or minimal privacy-friendly web analytics may be implemented. Such systems do not have access to your private fishing coordinates, photos, or logs stored in IndexedDB.

Section 6 (Data Protection, Backups, and Data Loss)

Because all data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB, clearing your browser storage, operating in private/incognito browsing windows, running aggressive cleanup utilities, or replacing your device may cause local data to be removed.

We strongly advise users to regularly use the Application's built-in "Backup & Export" feature to save a JSON copy of their records to a secure local drive or personal cloud storage. STONE PLANNING cannot restore data that has been deleted from your local device.

Section 7 (Safety Disclaimer for Anglers)

Tide curves, marine condition predictions, wind data, and solunar bite times presented in the Application are computed estimates intended solely for recreational reference. Actual sea and atmospheric conditions can change rapidly.

Always check local maritime safety bulletins, weather advisories, wear a certified life vest, respect private/no-fishing zones, and prioritize personal safety at all times. STONE PLANNING assumes no liability for marine accidents, personal injuries, or property damage arising in connection with the use of the Application.

Section 8 (Modifications to this Policy)

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory updates. Any changes will become effective when the revised policy is posted on this URL.
